Data sources and methodology

CosIng Checker currently indexes 2377 records derived from publicly available European Commission cosmetic ingredient materials covering Annex II to Annex VI.

Source and verification note

CosIng Checker is an independent reference website built from publicly available European Commission cosmetic ingredient materials, including Annex II–VI datasets.

Use these pages for research, discovery and comparison, but verify critical regulatory decisions against the official source text and current law.

Latest local import completed on 2026-03-19 23:11.

Fields available in the dataset

The parser and search layer expose the main ingredient, identifier and regulatory fields directly in the interface.

  • Chemical name
  • INCI glossary name
  • Colour index or glossary
  • CAS number
  • EC number
  • Product type
  • Warnings
  • Maximum concentration
  • Other restrictions
  • SCCS opinions
  • CMR
  • Update date

Normalization notes

CosIng Checker improves readability and internal linking, but not every official field arrives in perfectly structured form.

  • Multi-part product type notes are split into cleaner browsing groups.
  • CAS and EC values can be linked across grouped pages and record detail pages.
  • Search pages use normalized text so names, identifiers and related notes are easier to find.
  • Some regulatory fields, such as warnings or concentration notes, remain textual because the official source is not always fully structured.

Use these source and methodology notes to understand where the data comes from, what has been normalized, and when to cross-check the official materials.
